Import / Transit Requirements for Cats and Dogs into Uruguay
Age Of Animal
Puppies and kittens have to be 3 months or older. Puppies and kittens have to travel on their own valid rabies vaccination.
Microchip
Required prior to Rabies Vaccination.
Rabies Vaccinations
Date of rabies vaccination must be at least 30 days old and not older than 1 year prior to departure.
Health Certificate (Valid for 10 days)
The pets have to be accompanied by a health certificate issued by a private veterinarian certifying compliance with the above requirements and countersigned by the State Vet.
In general, this certificate is valid for 10 days from the date of issue.

Tapeworm Treatment
All dogs must be treated for the tapeworm Echinococcus more than 72 hours and less than 30 days prior to arrival in Uruguay.
Leishmania Blood Test
All pets entering Uruguay must test negative for Leishmania within 60 days of entry.
In the case of dogs, Uruguay will not authorize the entry into its territory of animals previously diagnosed with Leishmania.
